Role Summary
The Director of Supply Chain & Logistics leads end-to-end supply chain operations for our fast-growing protein bar manufacturing business. This role oversees sourcing and procurement, inbound logistics, inventory management, production planning alignment, warehousing, and outbound distribution across retail, wholesale, and e-commerce channels.
You will build scalable supply chain systems that ensure cost efficiency, supply continuity, and strong service levels while maintaining food safety and quality standards.
Core Responsibilities
Procurement & Strategic Sourcing Leader: Ensure reliable, cost-effective supply of ingredients and packaging.
Develop sourcing strategies for key ingredients and packaging materials.
Negotiate supplier agreements and manage supplier performance across cost, quality, and service.
Monitor commodity markets and drive cost optimization initiatives.
Establish dual sourcing and risk mitigation strategies.
Partner with R&D and Quality on ingredient approvals and reformulations.
Inbound Logistics & Inventory Owner: Ensure materials flow efficiently into production.
Oversee inbound transportation and optimize freight costs and carrier performance.
Ensure timely material availability to support production schedules.
Maintain inventory control practices including FIFO, lot traceability, and shelf-life management.
Manage safety stock levels and working capital targets.
Partner with Sales and Finance to support demand forecasting.
Production Planning & S&OP Leader: Align demand, supply, and production capacity.
Lead the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
Align demand forecasts with production capacity and procurement plans.
Develop production schedules in collaboration with plant operations.
Identify supply risks and capacity constraints while maintaining service levels.
Warehousing & Distribution Leader: Deliver finished goods efficiently and reliably.
Oversee finished goods warehousing operations and 3PL relationships.
Manage outbound logistics and carrier performance.
Ensure On-Time, In-Full (OTIF) delivery to retail, distributor, and e-commerce customers.
Ensure compliance with retailer routing guides and customer requirements.
Drive improvements in order fulfillment and distribution efficiency.
Systems & Process Improvement Driver: Build scalable supply chain infrastructure.
Lead implementation and optimization of ERP, MRP, and WMS systems.
Develop KPIs for procurement, inventory turns, OTIF, freight cost, and forecast accuracy.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and standardize supply chain processes.
Compliance & Risk Management Champion: Protect product integrity and supply continuity.
Ensure compliance with FDA, FSMA, and food safety regulations.
Maintain recall readiness and traceability systems.
Develop contingency plans for supply disruptions and logistics risks.
Leadership & Team Builder: Develop a high-performing supply chain organization.
Build and lead a strong supply chain team across procurement, planning, and logistics.
Foster collaboration with Sales, Finance, Operations, and R&D.
Develop team capabilities and succession planning.
Promote accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field.
8+ years of progressive supply chain leadership experience.
Experience in food or CPG manufacturing environments.
Strong sourcing, procurement, and logistics management experience.
Experience leading S&OP processes and working with ERP/MRP systems.
Preferred
Experience scaling supply chain operations in a high-growth manufacturing company.
Experience managing 3PL partners and multi-channel distribution.
APICS (CPIM/CSCP), Lean, or similar supply chain certification.
