Food Technologist
BB Nash seeks a hands-on Food Technologist to lead product development from concept to scale, optimize textures, and drive quality in a fast-paced plant.

Role Summary
The Food Technologist plays a hands-on role in product development, formulation, and commercialization activities at our U.S. manufacturing site. This position supports bench development, pilot trials, production trials, and product optimization to ensure scalable, high-quality products that meet brand standards.
This is a highly practical, plant-integrated role requiring daily collaboration with Operations and Quality during commercialization and ramp-up. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys solving technical challenges related to protein systems, texture optimization, and shelf-life stability.
Key Responsibilities
Formulation Partner: Support development of high-quality, scalable functional nutrition products.
Support formulation of new and existing products within the protein bar and functional nutrition category.
Prepare bench samples and document formula iterations.
Conduct ingredient functionality testing and comparative trials.
Assist in optimizing taste, texture, and nutritional performance.
Commercialization & Trial Support: Ensure successful scale-up from bench to full production.
Support execution of pilot and full-scale production trials.
Collect and analyze trial data (yield, texture, moisture, water activity, etc.).
Document trial results and recommend formulation or process adjustments.
Troubleshoot product and process deviations during scale-up.
Quality & Technical Documentation Steward: Maintain accuracy, compliance, and product integrity.
Maintain accurate formulation records, specifications, and technical documentation.
Support shelf-life studies and stability programs.
Assist in maintaining product standards and specifications.
Collaborate with Quality on product testing and validation.
Cross-Functional Collaborator: Align product performance with operational and regulatory needs.
Work closely with Operations during commercialization and ramp-up activities.
Support Supply Chain with ingredient testing and alternative evaluations.
Assist Regulatory with documentation for labeling and ingredient compliance.
Continuous Improvement Contributor: Enhance performance, efficiency, and product value.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and formulation optimization.
Support yield improvement and waste reduction initiatives.
Stay informed on ingredient innovation and market trends within functional nutrition.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related field.
2–5 years of experience in food product development or manufacturing.
Experience with protein bars, high-protein systems, or functional ingredients preferred.
Familiarity with pilot plant and manufacturing environments.
Understanding of water activity, texture systems, and shelf-life fundamentals.
Strong data documentation and reporting skills.
