Role Summary
The Cost Controller / ERP Specialist supports the financial and operational performance of our Nashville manufacturing facility by combining cost accounting expertise with hands-on ERP system leadership. This hybrid role is responsible for driving accurate cost management, financial analysis, and process optimization through effective use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain modules.
This position plays a critical role in improving cost visibility, strengthening reporting accuracy, and ensuring ERP functionality aligns with operational needs. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, ERP system proficiency, and the ability to collaborate across finance, production, warehouse, and supply chain teams.
Core Responsibilities
Data Quality: Ensure financial and operational data is accurate, reliable, and audit-ready.
Monitor and analyze production costs, material variances, labor efficiency, and overhead absorption.
Review and validate standard costing assumptions and cost allocations.
Maintain accurate master data within Microsoft Dynamics 365, including vendor records and tax logic.
Support month-end close activities, cost reporting, and KPI tracking.
Ensure financial data integrity to support regulatory compliance and leadership reporting.
Process Expert: Translate business needs into practical ERP and financial system solutions.
Serve as the site’s functional expert for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain modules.
Translate Finance and Operations requirements into system configurations and workflow improvements.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost-related reporting processes.
Implement system enhancements that improve reporting visibility, workflow efficiency, and cost transparency.
Collaborate cross-functionally to align ERP functionality with manufacturing operations.
Problem Solver: Lead structured resolution of system and financial issues — and prevent recurrence.
Conduct root cause analysis for cost discrepancies, system errors, and operational data issues.
Troubleshoot complex ERP issues and coordinate resolution with internal teams or external partners.
Implement corrective actions that prevent repeat system failures or data inaccuracies.
Support continuous improvement initiatives tied to cost control and operational performance.
Internal Mentor: Build ERP capability and ensure consistent system usage across the organization.
Provide user support and guidance for Finance and cross-functional teams.
Train and coach super-users on proper ERP usage and data standards.
Promote best practices in financial system controls and documentation.
Encourage disciplined system utilization that strengthens overall business performance.
Qualifications & Experience
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
2+ years of accounting experience preferred; manufacturing experience is a plus.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Strong working knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing cost principles applied in a practical setting.
Confidence using ERP systems — ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 — to maintain accurate data and reporting.
Attention to detail that supports tax compliance and audit readiness.
Clear communication skills to translate financial data into actionable insight.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
