Join our growing manufacturing team in Nashville as a Senior Sourcing/Planning Specialist supporting BB Nash production. This role partners with procurement, operations, and suppliers to ensure material availability, optimize inventory, and drive cost-effective sourcing strategies for a fast-moving consumer goods manufacturer.
Role Summary
As a Senior Sourcing/Planning Specialist, you will manage end-to-end material planning and strategic sourcing activities for the Nashville manufacturing site. You will forecast demand, create and maintain supply plans, negotiate with suppliers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain on-time production while minimizing inventory and cost. This position requires strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills within an operations-focused environment.
Core Responsibilities
Procurement & Supplier Management: Secure reliable, cost-effective material supply.
Source ingredients and packaging materials to support production needs.
Negotiate pricing, lead times, and supply agreements.
Maintain supplier documentation (COAs, allergen declarations, specifications).
Resolve quality, delivery, and specification issues with suppliers.
Production Planning: Align manufacturing output with customer demand.
Develop production schedules based on forecasts and orders.
Balance capacity, labor, and changeovers to maximize uptime.
Confirm material availability before releasing work orders.
Adjust plans proactively based on constraints and priorities.
Inventory & Material Control: Optimize stock levels and reduce waste.
Manage raw material inventory using JIT principles and shelf-life awareness.
Monitor safety stock and lead times to prevent shortages or excess.
Reduce waste and protect working capital.
ERP/MRP Administration: Maintain planning accuracy and system integrity.
Manage purchase orders, production orders, BOMs, and material requirements within ERP/MRP systems.
Maintain accurate planning parameters (yields, lead times, scrap factors).
Generate reports for forecasting and capacity planning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support operational and financial performance.
Partner with Operations, QA, R&D, and Finance to ensure smooth production flow and compliance.
Support new product launches with pilot material sourcing and planning alignment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of progressive experience in supply planning, procurement, or sourcing within manufacturing (CPG preferred).
Proven experience with MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
Strong analytical skills with experience in demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and supplier negotiations.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
Experience managing supplier relationships, contracts, and performance metrics (OTD, quality).
Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment with changing priorities.
Lean, Six Sigma, or APICS certification is a plus.
