Role Summary
The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of our Nashville manufacturing facility by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant accounting processes. Key responsibilities include accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and state/local tax preparation.
This role partners closely with procurement, production, and operations to provide financial visibility and strengthen internal controls in a growing manufacturing environment. Success requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
Payables & Transaction Accuracy: Keep vendor payments timely and accurate.
Process invoices, expense reports, and payments with precision and timeliness.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with Procurement and Receiving.
Financial Controls & Close Process: Maintain strong accounting discipline.
Prepare journal entries and support month-end close activities.
Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Maintain integrity of general ledger records and supporting documentation.
Reporting & Business Support: Deliver meaningful financial insight.
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Support budgeting and forecasting initiatives.
Provide operational reporting and financial visibility to plant leadership.
Tax & Compliance Management: Ensure regulatory adherence and audit readiness.
Prepare and file sales tax, property tax, and other local tax returns.
Coordinate with external advisors to maintain compliance with applicable regulations.
Maintain organized financial records to support internal and external audits.
Operational Partnership & Improvement: Support plant performance and process efficiency.
Work cross-functionally with Procurement, Production, and Operations to resolve financial issues.
Contribute to process improvements and cost-control initiatives.
Support special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
2+ years of accounting experience; manufacturing experience preferred.
Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
Knowledge of GAAP principles.
Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365.
Familiarity with state and local tax requirements.
Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
